New vision for Melbourne’s Old Convention Centre redevelopment

Developer Century Group Aus has unveiled a new design for redevelopment of Melbourne’s former Convention Centre site by Fender Katsalidis.
The developer purchased the site in late 2016, after an Elenberg Fraser-designed 27- to 34-storey, three-tower proposal was approved by Victoria’s planning minister Richard Wynne.

Plans for Former Convention Centre Site Unveiled

A triple-tower development is set to reactivate one of Melbourne’s most important gateway sites and contribute to the creation of a new precinct within the CBD. The 4,500 square metre site on Spencer Street has laid dormant for several years after the former Congress Centre/Convention Centre behind Crowne Plaza was demolished. It is a key gateway to the CBD and boasts iconic, east-facing views down the Yarra River. New plans by developer Century Group Aus will see three terraced towers of up to 33 levels designed by Fender Katsalidis revitalise the area with an activated precinct for residents and visitors.

First St Regis Hotel in Australia will open in Melbourne in 2022

Australia’s first St Regis Hotel is set to open its doors within the $800 million triple-tower Flinders Bank development in Melbourne’s CBD.
The 168-room, five-star hotel will occupy levels two to 11 in Tower Two of the development at 7-23 Spencer Street. The rest of the 33-storey building – the tallest of the three – will be made up of apartments.

Four new hotels: Marriott adds St Regis to Melbourne invasion

Marriott International's regional development boss Richard Crawford says Melbourne has surpassed Sydney as the country's gateway destination, after the world's biggest hotel group announced it will bring its luxury St Regis brand to the Victorian capital.
